Abstract

The purpose of the report was to formulate briefly the key requirements facing Ukrainian soil scientists on the eve of a new, continuous large-scale survey of the country's soil cover. It is shown that cartographic materials of the first large-scale survey (1957-1961), unfortunately, today, cannot be fully used in the management of land resources due to significant transformation, under the influence of anthropogenic and natural factors, the state and properties of soils. The list of basic conditions for the start of the new survey involves the necessity of completing the harmonized national classification of soils in Ukraine, the creation of a nomenclature list, the development of field survey techniques, and methods for decoding materials of various types of remote surveys.
