Abstract

The article presents the review of the results of long-term studies of the Laboratory of Soil Protection and Rational Use of Lands, aimed at developing ways to apply the basin approach to the formation of soil protection measures. The research was carried out during 2015-2018 on the territory of Luhansk region within the territory of the basins of the small rivers of the Siverskyi Donets. The methodological features of the work were based on the spatial and temporal analysis of the factors of influence on the erosion and hydrological processes on the basis of the basin concept in the system "small river basin → bilge water catchment", its mathematical modeling, digitization of the obtained models by means of GIS technologies in the form of TIN-surfaces. According to the results of field work and analytical assessment of archival materials of soil survey according to the data of 1970 and 2011, a database was created with indicators: grouping of land by content of humus (up to 3,3-4,4-5, and more than 5 %); geomorphological grouping of lands of the basin of small rivers; composition of the main agricultural lands (arable land-forage lands-forest bands); materials of the water cadaster in the steppe region. Models of average-maximum run-off flow rate in the Siverskyi Donets River were developed, and there were constructed the average-maximum flow rate chart schemes in the system of gutter catchments in the basin of the Aidar River of various availability. In order to form the soil protection structure of the balconies, we propose recommendations for estimating erosion and hydrological situations in agrolandscapes and the level of influence of the leading factors: arable land (61-69 %), storm rainfall (19-21 %), slopes more than 1 (3,7- 7,3 %), humus content (3,8-5,3 %).
