Abstract

The review article presents the results of a study of sources of information on the introduction of biological energy in the restoration of soil fertility on degraded lands. Special attention is paid to the published results of the determination of the unique remedial (healing) properties of giant miscanthus, which is able to improve the physical, physico-chemical and biological characteristics of the soil. This versatile energy crop, in addition to producing large amounts of high-quality biomass with high calorific value, also sequesters a significant proportion of carbon dioxide in the stems and roots—more than it returns to the atmosphere during combustion. This has a positive effect on both the soil, due to the increase in its organic content, and the atmosphere, and thus the climate. As a result of the search for special information sources, it was found that cellulose-containing raw materials obtained from miscanthus can replace cotton cellulose in the production of gunpowder, nitrocellulose and other explosive substances, which is extremely important for the development of the military industry in terms of its own production of cartridges, shells, mines, rockets, bombs etc., which will strengthen the state's defense capability.
